I have tried installing it, but I get an error that suggests that it may not work with my OS version... supposing I have just bought and updated a new MacBook Pro...

Its a bug for Windows XP computer operating systems as I know it. Nothing you can do. If you don't have XP, then idk, does it say in the log that it reads the pass? If so then ya...
