After reading this thread, it came to me that the AssaultCube forums doesn't actually have a server blacklist thread.
I know it isn't up to me to decide whether or not a server can be blacklisted, as this is entirely dependant on the devs. However as a community I think that at least illegal servers or servers with excessive admin abuse should be reported.
Also, I remember that after victor returned there wasn't anywhere to actually report his server, and I thought that some sort of thread would be made like this. That never happened :P
DO NOT POST HERE IF YOU HAVE BEEN ABUSED BY A SERVER ADMIN ONLY ONCE. When I say 'excessive' I mean virtually everytime you go on this server, there are admins abusing people and so on.
So, here is the unofficial server blacklist thread! :)

admin abuse is way too common. and my thread on how to not abuse admin has been buried. :P

Look... even looking nice the idea to create such a thread, I am not sure it is a good thing.
No server will be blacklisted for admin abuse, and each case must be reported/discussed separately.
Tbh, the blacklist thread is already a bad idea imo (my first post in this community was about this).
But in the case of server blacklist it becomes even more senseless because the devs are responsible to control this issue (and the devs do not read the forum all time).

Yeah, I actually had this Idea when I posted the thread, I just didn't have the guts to make a thread about it. I PM'd Brahma and he said It was a bad idea. Maybe my time to shine isn't now :)

There is no sense in blacklisting server for admin abuse (excessive or not), since there is no rule forcing the admins to be kind.
The blacklist thread includes impersonators, offenders, abusers, and sometimes discussion.
Yesterday I checked the server list from home (using some wireless there), and I found myself banned in half of the servers!!!!!!

I worked hard to created the anticheats and autokicks mainly to avoid the usage of a blacklist... but I see 1.1 inherited the 1.0 blacklist!
Seriously... the blacklist itself is wrong, does not solve the issues, bring more discussion and struggle than solutions, it is awful to navigate through the old posts... and the ms moderation is a matter for the devs.
If you find an abusive server, send a PM to me or RK, or create a thread for this in cases like the PRO server.

I understand that you don't like the blacklist and I agree with the fact that it's rather pointless having one however in the past we've seen the hanze and victor situations which have caused somewhat of uproar, and now the PRO situation is being brought up again. Along with this, the blacklist isn't just used for cheaters. It's used for (as stated below) impersonators, abusers and so on.
I also understand that server owners can do as they please, but come on. It's your(the dev team's) masterserver. In my eyes that's basically saying abuse in AC is allowed. If the masterserver was one big nation, you're basically saying that some areas are allowed to go out and commit serious crimes or offense but others aren't. If you think about it, the masterserver IS one big nation. Shouldn't the same rules apply all over?
I know that "the blacklist thread includes impersonators, offenders, abusers, and sometimes discussion". However the offenses listed haven't really got anything to do with server blacklisting have they?

What I want to say is:
1) The common blacklist is a bag of confusion, and do not include only cheaters (which were the reason for creating a blacklist tool). But it is community supported, so it is ok.
2) There is no server blacklist for the community. If the devs do not read this thread, it is useless. And the majority of the posts here will be "I got banned from server X... please, blacklist server X", so the devs will definitively not read this.

You know this, but just ask the server owners to fix that. I believe they could find your ip on the NZ black/whitelist. Then again, I might be wrong.

I am not blacklisted... the ip I was using in that moment was inside a blacklisted range (probably 189.78/16).
Anyway, it is not only me. There are about 1000 other possible players in this same range being affected by one or two assholes.

maybe somewhat of topic. i think i / BC will drop the 1.0 blacklist in 1103 and just use a nick list.

I think a thread like this would be useful to alert other players (not the devs) about particular servers that one may wish to avoid due to issues like admin abuse. While the server probably won't get kicked off the MS, individual players may learn from the experience of others and use discretion in choosing a server to join.
As for blacklists, maybe they are a bit overused at the moment... But if I were to run a server, there are a few choice IP addresses I would definitely have blacklisted. Some people have consistently demonstrated a destructive intention, and simply don't deserve to play AC.

Because the ip which I was connecting is in the 1.0 blacklist? a simple Account System would solve the problem...
then you can range ban them on the site if you have to.
