Yeah, inderdaad, mooi Belgisch geformuleerd.
Ik bedoelde dat je Frans accent sowieso niet te aanhoren is, zoals bij de meeste Nederlanders :)

Give us some credit, man! I learned Spanish in high school, and I could have taken French instead if I weren't a fool. Plus I speak enough Russian, German, Dutch, Portuguese, and Mandarin to express that I can't speak those languages. So there.

You guys are exceptions...
Really, not many of you speak other languages...

There's not much incentive to learn another language for a lot of people who use English as their primary language, not unless your family tongue is different, or you live abroad for long periods of time.

A lot of the best media out there is already in English or translated through subtitles or dubbing.

Yes I know. No need to learn another language...
Things could have been different when they voted for the official language of the US, Dutch was almost elected there ;)

I took 4 years of french and scored a 98/100 on the new york regents exam. But forgot most of it now. It's like math, you don't use it outside of the basics. Pretty sure all Americans are forced to take 1-3 years of a foreign language.

I have met only very few people that have been able to speak a language fluently with no problems after learning at school/for 1-3 years, none of them were Americans.

When they do something good they count as American.
But when the smallest thing goes wrong, they are strange and not from OUR country...

(and this is just a general thought, so not only US :p )

It's gonna be people who know both Japanese and English who'll do the translating. My point still stands though, the majority of English speakers don't play obscure Japanese visual novels.

No way to learn it properly unless you live here. Italian is such a hard language, even ourselves often make mistakes.

Just an example, uscire, which means to go out, works like this in English
I, you, we, you, they go out/ he, she, it goes out

while in Italian:
Io esco, tu esci, egli esce... Noi usciamo, voi uscite, essi escono...

No way...
