i think it would be cool if this game had the annoncement voice. like on UT or halo.

my feelings are that it may improve it but take away its simplicity a little bit, perhaps an option to turn it on or off would be welcome.

but it would also have to be programmed which would cause problems.

 is it a good idea?

This would be possible to do as a server side mod, but the difficult part would be making sure that everyone has the correct media (sounds) for it to be functional because of the fact that you are not able to transfer such files from the server to the client. The best thing to do for someone to do for a mod like that would be to only have the server make announcements.

Uhm, as has been said countless times before: AC doesn't want to be a copy of any other game. The basic idea you presented, mykegregory, actually sounds very much like SPAM - I doubt any serious AC-player would leave such a sound on, since it'd distract him from more important sounds (like the flag being taken, or footsteps close-by, ..).The VC (VoiceCom) is already often abused by unskilled players - I even read a request somewhere for an automatic playing of "Nice Shot!" when getting fragged. *sheesh*
If every frag would warrant the VC you'd never hear anything else in a packed server in DM mode and it would leave you without an option to actually honour your opponent (or person spectated) for achieving an impressive frag.

But I guess I could point out that I've been having some thoughts about a system of rewards/awards given out for certain in-game events. Maybe, just maybe, a connsecutive stretch of kills in a limited amount of time (wild example: 3 frags in 90 seconds) could be something worth an award - but I was actually thinking more on the lines of "succesful defence of the flag", "good teamplay" (like: Cover Me! - Yes, sir! - ..fight happens..at least one of you survives.. ) or other tactical aspects.

"Good teamplay" would make players very happy i think.Encourage teamwork.
Sounds like a pain to code.

 Nice idea

I've actually been in servers that had special messages that would come up if someone would get headshots, 5+ kills, and other things, so I know that this is possible. It would be nice though to be recognized for all of my returns though.

I can see it. My speakers would be dead with "doublekill" and "triplekill" sounds all the time...

Don't do it, forced idiotic sounds are a part of what ruined CS 1.6 for me.

I'll admit I enjoy those voices in other games, but I can't really see it fitting in with AC. It kind of seems like it would break the game's simplicity.

Yeah, takes away from the games simplicity.----------------------
If you really do want the voice, then go find a padded room and yell "MULTI-KILL" to yourself, or better yet, have a friend do it.

The Exodus servers have messages that pop up every interval of something seconds, they advertise their community, and they also have "In the last game, the player with the most frags/deaths was Unarmed with 1".

Yes wich is already nice but when it comes in just text its so different as when it comes in voice ;d

I do like the multikill voice in for example CrossFire, but i dont think i would like to hear it in Assault Cube. The reason for this is because the games have different gameplay, in ac you would hear this sound just to much. I guess :d
