Since I think this should be a thing, here you go. Add this to the bottom of your menus.cfg (Or, autoexec.cfg works too if you don't want to mess with menu configs), to have the main menu appear right away when you start the game:
// Show Main Menu on startup
showmenu main
Someone suggested making it a checkbox option in the settings menu. It would be fairly easy, but I'm not sure if there's much point.

Probably the best and easiest idea ever related to "how to keep newcomers". I remember trying AC and not founding the multiplayer part the first time I launched it.

I remember this has been discussed years ago already, though I can't recall why it wasn't introduced back then. I guess it was something along the lines of 'it already has been like this on cube...' or something.
However, showing up the main menu should be default indeed.

Well, looks I've been too late to the show, since it has been included 9 hours before my post already.
I actually did check before, yet I forgot to switch to "next"... Gettin' old...

It is implemented in "next" and enabled by default. An option in "misc settings" can disable it.
