Hello,
Well everything is in the title. I don't think I've done anything wrong in game, so perhaps it's an IP error?
Thanks for considering my issue,

I had this problem a while back and I spent days messing around with firewalls and was almost at the point of giving up.
First check that your firewall is not blacking the range.
Personally if I was you I would not go down the road of forward porting.
I re installed assaultcube after removing the existing one.
and you can re install openal etc.
sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian libsdl-image1.2 zlib1g libogg0 libvorbis0a libopenal1 libcurl3
I then navigated to the shell of Assaultcube and created a link to my desktop
It works fine for me.
I use Linux btw so it is probs easier in windows.
the problem I found was libcurl3. Once I re installed it worked fine.

There's nothing in the master server logs for the IP you posted from. If you think your IP address might have changed since you last tried, try again, then post immediately. Otherwise, have a look
here.

What is your in game name, exactly ?
Try with a name that does not contain any special character. (like "unarmed". To change your name, type /name unarmed in the console)
So to sum everything up, please try the following in this order untilyour issue is resolved :
1) make sure you are using the latest version : type
in the console and tell us what it prints (should print "version = 1202").
2) check if it works if you use a name containing only alphabetic characters
3) make sure you have no firewall rule that might block access to the masterserver
4) reinstall libcurl
