Had never seen it before, maybe the error has happened in the recording of server.

Although it doesn't look like this is the problem, AC dmo files are gzipped, and some upload sites give you an unzipped file. If you open it with a text editor, does it start with "ASSAULTCUBE_DEMO"? If so, it's been unzipped and you'll need to gzip it.
It could also be that the file is corrupt. If you don't mind anyone seeing it, you could always share the link and see if anyone can identify the problem.

Unzipping was the opposite of what I suggested, actually. Odd.

Sorry jamz i thought you just need to unzip the file but i just realized the same problem is still there. I opened the file with text edit and it does start with "ASSAULTCUBE_DEMO", which means i need to gzip it. So how do i gzip a file on a mac OS?

I don't know, since I don't use one, but it might me slightly more reliable to ask the person who uploaded it to upload it to another site. If that's not an option, and you don't get more help here, google is your friend.
