Masterserver issues

[TooTinyMan]

I just moved to an apartment, in which I am going to stay for 6 weeks. Today I tried to play AssaultCube, but it keeps saying that the masterserver is not responding. What's going on? Is it possible someone here got globally banned? What would I have to do to fix this? I read some other threads with similar problems, but I think mine's different so I made a new thread for it. Sorry if I am making a duplicate.

The IP is different, but I already knew it was a /24 at least.
Here's the only log entry for 74.91.103.x since I posted that blacklist entry:

Code:

2012-07-04 22:38:45 sban entry: 74.91.103.191 dar AC1104|0

Oh, look; same name as the cheat.
And, oh, look; it's the same IP that you used when you created this forum account at 22:59 GMT yesterday, only 21 minutes after the ban entry above.
The evidence points to you I'm afraid.

// Name: dar
// Ban date: 2012-07-04
// Ban reason: hitbox switch
// Proof: http://www.26things.com/ac/forum/TDM_ac_...4_0919.dmo
74.91.103.155

That? What do you mean by "same name as the cheat?" is dar supposed to mean something else? The IP is obviously the same because we're on the same internet. Also, I created the account because I saw the "translators wanted" thread. I've got about a quarter of a Dutch translation done right now, clicky here: DOWNLOAD AC_NL.TXT

I assume "hitbox switch" is where you switch your hitbox so nobody can hit you. I am 99% confident that I suck too bad with computers to do stuff like that - and I'm on a Mac, so there's no way to access the code, only the textures.

Also, what's a "/24 at least?"

Another also: I downloaded the demo and put it in the right folder, but all I see is a big gray box.

It far too much of a coincidence that you create an account here with an IP address that was banned and used by player dar 21 mins previously.

the /24 means ip addresses between 74.91.103.0-74.91.103.255 ie 74.91.103.0/24

Oh, I see. Thanks.

I understand if you think it was me. I probably would too if I were in your position. I guess I'll just wait the 6 weeks out until I get back home to play again.

To be honest, I don't think that would work out well for you.
The ban is supposed to last 6 weeks.
If you attempt to play AC again under a different IP, then you could get accused of ban evasion, which would leave you in an even greater mess than before...

1) It's a 3 month ban
2) This particular cheat is almost exclusively Mac.
3) Here are a couple of log entries showing previous names you've used:

Code:

2012-06-15 03:04:40 list sent: 216.165.[a.b] tootInABox AC1104|0 2012-06-13 02:40:43 list sent: 216.165.[a.b] DardarFishcake AC1104|0

...but 'dar' is not you? I'm inclined to believe it is you.

Lol yes it is. The way I do translations is that I go through and change everything quickly into something close to what they should be, and then when I'm done I go back and revise everything and fix grammar issues etc. What you're reading isn't even a finished rough draft.

Well now you are not playing AC you will have plenty of time to work on it, see you in 3 months ;)

Yeah, see ya. I've been playing with the Starbucks next door's free wifi, although it is a bit slow.
