Matches with applicants
#1
When you have a match against another clan, but either you, or they, have an applicant on their side, would you count that as a proper clan match? I want to know what everyone thinks of this, as within HyPE we're still having discussion on this topic.

Personally I find matches with applicants to count as an inter, as they aren't in the clan (yet). Yes they may be representing the clan but "representing the clan isn't the same as being in the clan," as said by JoeSmith.

What does "count that as a proper clan match" mean ? Who actually cares ?

Whether or not you post it on your forum/website as a clan match, instead of an inter.

Inter. o_O

If the team with the applicant win (match)
If the team with the applicant lose (inter)
If the team without the applicant win (match)
If the team without the applicant lose (nothing)

Inter :>

Not like it really matters except for inclan affairs (win/loss ratio). Afaik there is no clan ladder. I do think it is critical to play matches with applicants, in a CM like situation.

i still don't get the point of wondering that :>
all matches are played "for fun", regardless your opponents

Just that in our clan there's a small disagreement in where to place a game with an applicant, whether to place it under the 'Clan Match' section or the 'Inter Clan Match' section. And the results as of now from the poll are what I expected. :o

What's in a name?
That which we call victory, by any other match, would smell as sweet.

If a person is a potential clan member, they are not an actual member because the clan is still deciding whether they want that person to represent them -- for example, in clan matches.

V-Man, I considered referencing R&J, however I figured that quote has become overused.

So he's representing your clan, therefore a clan match.

As stated before, "representing" isn't exactly the same as actually "being in" a clan though..

If it isn't why would you use them in clan match?

yes, that's the philosophy of w00p. Since your clan don't care about wins or losses, you think the same.
But some clans are still trying to improve their level. A good way to improve is this: post the losses in the forum, comment together about the mistakes, fix them and win the next match. In addiction, an eventual new applicant will see how much the clan is active, and how much skill is in the clan, what players are most active, and so on.
Oh LUCAS, how people can know that w00p has only 5 or 6 members active in AC, and you for example don't play AC since ages, if no one in your clan is giving these informations?
lets talk about 3H, aka By3. they are active everyday, but since they never post matches, Vlad rejected their request to take part in the tas league, because "they are not enough active, they don't have any match in their forum".
Oh, yes, w00p can still partecipate, but only coz the clan is well know in the community.
MINOR clans, like HyPE, MyS, dR and aG are still trying to:
1 - show to the community their improvements
2 - learn from their mistakes having the constant proof of having done them

returning IT, Exoduss is right: if you win it is a match, if you lose its mostly applicants fault, and since they are not in the clan it count more like an inter.

MyS in the past decided what to do very clearly:
Applicants are different from Trialmembers.
Applicants never wear the tag, and all the applicant matches are inters.
Trialmembers are considered like "members that can still be rejected, but they can play as real members and wearing the tag", and clan matches with them are proper clan matches.

Besides that, still we don't post a lot of victories and losses, since they are all quite similar to the past ones. If we win 10 clan matches in a day against oNe, we don't post all of them.
If we win 2 times and lost 1 time vs dR, and that loss was with an applicant, we post just one of the wins.. if we lost 4 times w00p we post, lets say, only the most important one, and only if someone has time to do it... i was used to post all matches, but since the site keep crashing and losing all my posts, i stopped posting them all.

I think that the team with the applicant should decide if it is or not.

how complicated.. ppl don't need screenshots to know how skilled is a clan, they can learn it playing against/with them.
Btw we might not often play against each other because i don't wish to.

Luc@s Sister, it's just a question, stop going offtopic hey? D:

IMO, trialmembers can count as matches but if your just an applicant, it isn't a match :)

well, imo.
i have been part of 'inter-CLAN' matches when i have not even been in a clan. o.O

so i would have to say inter.

inter, imo

I'd hardly say he;s better informed, I rarely see him getting involved or playing matches to get a good grasp of the activity of teams or there whereabouts, however that is offtopic.

I think it's what it is, personally I wouldn't post it but just on the applicants thread, once they become trial just put it as a clan match.

I feel it should be an inter, but obviously if a clan wins with the app they'll be inclined to want to call it a CM
Thanks given by:
#26
You play inters with your applicant, then if he has got what the clan requires, you accept him as trial (and then as official member), and play matches.
But whatever, as Lucas said, the most important is having fun :)
Thanks given by:

If they are wearing the tag it's a clan match if they are not wearing the clan tag, it's an inter. It's the clans choice to make the applicant wear the tag or not.

this.

inter/cm/whatever, doesnt matter
Thanks given by:

It doesn't matter like Lucas said, but I'd consider it as an inter, but of course if the clan the applicant is playing with agrees from the beginning that it is a clan match then it would be considered so.

Well, its your forum and your clan, so do whatever da hell you want. Theres no official clan ladder nor any of the likes and clans usually don't post all of their matches in forums and the clan own forum is hardly the place one should go to see how good the clan is...

In other words: nobody cares, do as you please.

and by the way, w00p plays matches against M|A lots of times, is just a matter of going to irc and set the shit up...
