I don't know how easy/possible this is to do. But it would of great help if you could see the number of players still alive displayed on the screen (when playing in a mode with rounds).
A simple 3 in red and 1 in blue in the corner of the screen would be enough.
I play T/OSOK alot, and sometimes I lose track of how many enemies are left (It's nasty when you find out there 2 left, not just 1!). Also helps to let me know that I'm the only one left in my team.
Anyone agrees?

Press tab. Names in white are alive, names in grey are dead/haven't spawned.

You can press «Tab» to get up scoreboard and see whos a live and whos dead.
But note that this can backfire - you get killed cos you arent paying attention to the game/enemy.

Yes tab does display live/dead players. But especially in t/osok, milli-seconds could be difference between fragging someone or getting fragged. Also if it's a close game, the red and blue teams keep switching in the scoreboard, which makes even harder to figure out the situation with a glance.

This implementation wouldn't exactly have any negative effects, so I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea... tab ish skills though. >_<

Yes, I'm familiar with the pain of tabbing to see who's left and I'd love a feature like this.

How would you like spamming your text console? :3

No, it would be irritating if the survivor count echoed in the console every time someone died. I think the idea is a persistent screen object that updates in real time.

Its a good idea. no more will tabbing get me killed.
i'm just wandering when the protox high quality players skins will be in the official version!
EDIT: where would this number go? on the screen?

I think it would fit perfectly in the bottom right corner (next to the fps and ping data, if they're displayed).
I also wouldn't look bad in the bottom left corner next to the weapon icon.

The absolute worst thing about AC right now.

Perhaps there should be, as khaled.zaidan mentioned, an object in the bottom corner of the screen that can persistently display the remaining players alive... Or, for expansive purposes, it could be a generic object that displays some script result at any given moment. That would be really awesome.

@V-Man:
How about CubeScript access to draw_text() and draw_textf()? :p

Tabbing is a skill; just like any other, it must be mastered with some practice
