Despite the prevalence of team modes in AssaultCube, the team aspect is sorely overlooked. Here are some teamwork tips to help you get the most out of your teammates.
1. Shield
Running (or camping) behind a teammate can give you vital seconds to defeat the enemy. While your teammate is taking the first round in the crotch, you can be lining up your own perfect shot. Make sure you step aside before firing.
2. Suicide Scout
There's a tendency in TOSOK games to rush right out of the base and into the enemy swarm. This is foolish! Wait a moment and let a teammate get ahead of you. Wait for them to go around a corner and get perforated, then pop out and dispatch the enemy before they have time to fire again. An alternate method is to jump around the corner, take a pot-shot, and run away again, then let your teammate go ahead and get killed. If you're lucky, the enemy will think that your teammate is you, and won't expect you to come around the corner at them again.
3. Distraction
This one is for the latter end of a round. If a teammate is in a drawn-out battle with one of the enemy, this is a perfect opportunity for you to rush in from the enemy's blind spot and steal the kill. Just make sure not to hit the teammate who so kindly kept the enemy busy for you.
4. Springboard
If you pull it off just right, you can land a jump on a teammate's head, giving you an unexpected boost and maybe even an airborne headshot on the enemy. No one aims all the way up there, so you'll be safe even if your teammate gets shot down.
Additions are welcome. :D

5 - In the mouth of the lion
Your teammate just stole the flag from the enemy base. Don't be fool, don't protect him using yourself as a shield. Camp behind a corner: after 5 seconds a bunch of aggressive players will rush trying to catch him, and you can kill them all while they try to run faster!
If you are really good, you will let them kill the flagman before owning them, so you can even score a flag!
6 - Douze king
You are not useful if you try to capture the enemy flag, it is dangerous and not very effective. Take position on your base, in the left side, just behind the door, nobody will see you there, and you can easy kill the enemies that just capture your flag and are trying to riflesprint in middle.

That is not teamwork then.
Nice work Jack

A Guide to Teamwork = A Guide to using your teammates to maximize your benefit? Or is this A Modest Guide to Teamwork?
EDIT: I don't just mean YourSister's post, I mean all the tips given so far. They all talk about not killing your teammates, but this appears to be more for fear of the -1 frag than for actual respect of your teammates.

Yes, that's the theme of it. :D Not so much teamwork as using the team. ;)

Well, I guess in most pub games that is about as far as you will get with "teamwork".

It is meant to be joking, of course, calling it a guide to teamwork but describing self-serving techniques.

I've always believed that teamwork is learnt by experience and practice, not from reading :)

Any action is mastered only through application, of course, but you have to first be aware of the action. If you don't know about, say, the technique of saying <- LEFT <- or -> RIGHT -> in teamchat for flags, or the best way to protect a flag-bearer, you won't be able to do it. Whether you learn about the technique by reading a post or seeing it happen in game leads to the same theoretical knowledge of it, which is separate from its application and mastery. Reading is never enough, but it can be a good start.
Not that this thread is really meant to be helpful.

Completely agree, Jack. You can all read about teamwork half of the day and completely understand and remember every piece of word in it, but a thing is knowing what you should do and another is knowing how to do it.

Watch demos of teams from ACWC, or clans that are well off.
Better yet, play some AssaultCube. You'll learn more from playing a dozen inters than reading a hundred and fifty essays.

7. Shot in the head.
When you are playing T-OSOK or Sniper, shot in the head, oponents die faster and you get 2 points. Of course, it help your teamates a lot!

lol Exoduss
8. Tosokdesert suXstar
If you are blue, run behind the box in the corridor near your base, keep the crosshair on the entrance from cla side. Shoot everything is moving.
If you are red, it is even easier. Just stay in the house, crouch in the nadespawn and keep the crosshair fixed on the blue corridor. Shoot all the moving things.
9. Tosokdesert suXstar+
If teams are horribly umbalanced, ask the best played in the enemy team for 1v1. He will tell you "ok, where?" and you "Connect hlin.woop.us 4999 match". When he disconnect, type /changeteam
10. Team Wait The Noob
In TKTF, if the enemy bring the flag, don't ruin your ratio assrunning him. Go to the flagspawn and hide somewhere around. When he dies, don't pick up the flag, some enemy will arrive riflesprinting or just strafejumping. You can kill him easily. Ok now you can take the flag, or you can wait more enemies if you are still full HP

12. If you're unsure whether that's an enemy or a teammate behind the corner, throw a nade. Your teammates will admire your mad skillz. And if it goes bad, better V-4-2 than dead.

On offense and you have a sniper? Easy tip to better your chance for a head shot:
15) Pretend every player has really big and round breasts (Who doesn't like looking there). Take aim between the two boobs. Before shooting, jump and once in the air, fire making minor left or right adjustments. Works great! Sometimes even a crouch in air for those aiming at saggy breasts can boost their chance.
