Server Creation Error
#1
Hi there

Specs : Windows 7 32-bit Ultimate
Wirelss connection to my router SMC WBR 14 G2
I'm trying to set up a server with the setup_server.bat for playing just with my friends without other people coming in.

So I start that server_wizard.bat thingie and fill in this follwing:

Description: TTServer
Message of the day: Music
Maximum Clients: 4
Admin Pasw: my pass - i'm not going to tell that here :)
Server Port: 50668 (that one is open, I checked it)
Public Server: No
Player Server: tttt
Additional Server Switches: (nothing - i pressed enter)
Win Service name: (nothing - i pressed enter)

And then I press enter again, it waits two seconds and then it's showing this:

"Writing your configuration to server_autoconfigured.bat ... Failed!
Press a key to continue. . ."

What can I do ?

Thx for your help!

Did you reinstall ac or just casually move everything? Make sure you reinstalled to your documents folder and that you have admin permissions of your computer. If that fails, then you have to edit permissions with quick help found here.

I got full permission of that folder and I installed it to that folder.

This is helpful for editing permissions which imo is the biggest problem.

Your server is fine then. You must have used the server switch -m somewhere meaning that it tries to connect to a different masterserver than assault.cubers.net. This usually happens with -mlocalhost being used.

EDIT: Taking a closer look, you indeed did.

Make sure you have both the port forwarded and its consecutive port (1 value higher) forwarded.

Also make sure to use a cable instead of the airwaves! Playing usually works halfways decently via wireless, but a server is guaranteed to have/make trouble w/o a reliably stable connection!!!
