click on Applications-Games-AssaultCube SVN. see if that works. or if it was listed.
i also have trouble when i click on it sometimes. sometimes not. sometimes i boot my computer and it works and sometimes it doesn't. it acts like it's going to load for a second and then just my desktop shows. i don't know if this is ubuntu or assault cube or what. this never happens with mozilla firefox web browser.

By "clicked on it twice," do you mean "double-clicked?"
30 Nov 10, 10:53AM
When you have downloaded it you need to extract the tar file, then cd to the assaultcube directory and type
[SELECT ALL] Code: ./assaultcube.sh

i did the applications-games-assultcube svn but nothing happend again this is starting to get annoying. so now what?

Make sure the sh and bin files have execute permissions too. I find that when i extract ac i have to chmod +x those files.

nothings working at all

Look, we're not your babysitters here, so don't come crying "nothings working at all".
Did you enable execute permission for all groups on the bin/linux_client file? Did you try opening a terminal, cd-ing to the AC directory and typing bin/linux_client ?
._.
lets start from the beginning: what kind of computer, os version, and version of ac do you have?
03 Dec 10, 10:45PM
os version=linux
version of ac=1.1.0.4 all i know is when i run assaultcube.sh it says excutible TEXT file
03 Dec 10, 11:06PM
Try opening a Terminal and drag «assaultcube.sh» into the Terminal.

i found the problem i need to get * libSDL 1.2
* libSDL_image * OpenAL i got the libSDL 1.2 can anyone give me the terminal codes for the other two?
04 Dec 10, 12:01AM
This information can easily be found on the main AC website. Infact, it's on the download page, I don't know how you missed it. Anyhow...
[SELECT ALL] Code: sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2 libsdl-image1.2 libopenal1 libsdl-ttf2.0-0 ...is what you're looking for. In future, read the docs.

Seems to me you have a messed up installation.
Maybe reinstall Ubuntu and try again. Just a though. @ spamma: Please stop quoting post without replying anything to them. http://forum.cubers.net/thread-1300.html Wrote:13. Do not engage in quote spamming, you will be given warning points everytime you do.

[SELECT ALL] Code: sudo apt-get install libopenal1 libopenal-dev Edit: Just search in Synaptic Package Manager after «libopenal» or «openal». (Without «»)
04 Dec 10, 08:03PM
ok i have everything i needed and i still get a black screen and i have to restart my computer
could the problem be my graphics card or do i need to upgrade to 9.10
04 Dec 10, 10:19PM
problem is with graphic drivers
what is your graphic? Anyways you can try another drivers, my xubuntu offers two version of drivers
04 Dec 10, 11:30PM
where can i find out about my graphics card?
05 Dec 10, 04:32PM
System Tools -> Sysinfo
sudo apt-get install sysinfo http://www.ubuntugeek.com/howto-get-your...sinfo.html

Startup-Log output may contain useful information too. Add "-t" to the parameters when calling AC. For example (in a terminal):
[SELECT ALL] Code: cd /path/to/where/I/unpacked/AC
05 Dec 10, 08:22PM
all that was there was this Intel corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]GE Chipset intergrated Graphics Device (rev 01)
Subsystem: Dell Device 0126
05 Dec 10, 11:45PM
So you use the onboard card.
I recommend you buy a new graphic-card for your computer. I have 82865G onboard and its not good playing AC with. So i picked up a cheap ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO and its way better.
06 Dec 10, 01:47AM
so unless i get a ATi Radeon HD 2400 PRO i can't play ac?
