Lately, many unprofessional rip-offs of the official AssaultCube installers have been made public via various 3rd-party websites. We want to remind everyone that AssaultCube is 100% free and opensource. If you happen to find a website attempting to sell the game it is a scam. Please report this to us. We're doing our best to report these various sites and get them taken down.

More like, "If you're so pathetic that you have to impersonate something else in order to look cool..." blah blah blah (I actually have really hateful things to say about that but they don't belong where children can read them).

Word! I don't know why but scam artists like this, along with spammers and game-hackers really make me all vengeful and hateful. They contribute nothing positive to society, and it'd be really great if we could just round them up and jettison them off towards the sun. The world might actually become a better place.

Looks like they want a dev/copyright holder to lay the smack down.
Reporting.

EDIT: Checksum of the installer that site offers matches that of the official 1.1.0.1 installer.
[standard@nemo ~]$ md5sum assaultcube.exe
94dfec7b5fec65b3769af3e42f25b377 assaultcube.exe
[standard@nemo ~]$ md5sum AssaultCube_v1.1.0.1.exe.2
94dfec7b5fec65b3769af3e42f25b377 AssaultCube_v1.1.0.1.exe.2
[standard@nemo ~]$
However, it's still a copyright infringement no matter what.

I just love how scammers like these almost always use pictures that aren't in the game.

Actually I saw that picture years ago and I don't believe it had anything to do with the Halo series. I first saw it on howstuffworks.com in an article about exoskeletons for the military.

That just looks like a modded client. No threats found with Avast! free edition. After starting the game, you can tell that they mostly use AC's resources and stuff (e.g. maps, textures, models), and the weapon models might be stolen from other games, I don't know. The engine is actually changed a fair bit though. There's shell ejection, reloading animations (although these only work for the pistol), aim down sights for all weapons, a distance meter, your character spawns with a grenade and probably more that I haven't noticed in the 5 minutes I messed around. They included dust2 (a remake that they claim to have made themselves?) in their release too, as well as funhouse and twintowers.
Inside the packages directory there's a note reading: Quote:The files here are distributed adhering to the following licence:
"The entire AssaultCube package MAY be redistributed"
----------
It is distributed with our some of our custom content presnt.
I just think you'll need to give them direction and ask them to link to the real site. They seem like they're just trying to make a mod to me. They use a different masterserver and protocol too. They're not trying to make people think they made the original AssaultCube. I found this in the "About" section ingame:

There weren't any people online, but they had a g-zipped Linux release. You could just download another official AC release and extract their release over the top though.
