Need testers: mod Prohibition

Hello, i make a new thread, i hope it is good.

I have my mod to test and i need people.

I hope it will interest enough people to get one coder to help me

in this pack there is :

New player Model with skins for each side
New weapons:
Browning m1917 for assault riffle
Thompson subgun for subgun
Winchester 2 shots for shotgun
Lee enfield for riffle
Lee enfield+scope for sniper riffle
Colt for pistol
Police staff for knife
Dynamite for grenade

New sounds: most of the sounds have been remade

New pickups: medpack is the only i diden't change for the moment

New environment picture (starting screen, weapons, flags etc...

Changed menus: i changed some of the menus of the game, there is still lot of work on this

it takes 6 449 kb

BEWARE ! TO TEST IT, RE-INSTALL ASSAULT CUBE IN A NEW FOLDER (named prohibition for example) CAUSE THIS MOD WILL REPLACE YOUR OLD FILES

Pretty cool so far, I like the theme.

For future versions, I suggest you learn how to use the mod folder - then people will be able to run your mod side by side with the original AC without having to use a diffrent folder.

Also, don't add your own init.cfg - my crt doesn't like your widescreen resolution...

I learned many things: model, animate, textures... i diden't have the time to learn how to mod it. Sorry

i remake for this mode our map ac_western for you, we made this map when we learn AC mapping :P, http://www.quadropolis.us/node/1151, i like the bottles, makke we need more armors :D

when playing team mode, its not easy to see who are my teamates or the enimy :\

btw, you dont need to backup, erase or replase anything,
simply copy a bat file and rename it "prohibition", edit the file and erase the content, type this inside:
Call assaultcube.bat "--mod=mods\prohibition"

now open the mods folder, create a new folder named "prohibition",
and drag the "package" folder inside.

add this code on your autoexec:
showmenu CLA

start_intermission = [choisiskin]
alias choisiskin [skin (rnd 8)]

now double click the prohibition.bat file and voilá :)

It's just crashing my game when I try to launch it. I'm on Mac FYI.
I tried reinstalling and then only replacing "packages" and leaving "config" the same, but still no luck.

I'd really love to play this though.

Did you replace all of the packages? Because that might be the problem. There are a couple things that AC NEEDS to run, such as notexture.png. This is why running it like a mod is the best way to go. It only uses what the mod provides, and uses the original material that hasn't been provided by a mod.
Mods are in the long run, much simplier, and safe.

i diden't replace all of the package

but maybe a .cfg file is the problem

I need returns on the playbility

the problem with recognizing your teammate has two solutions: create a red and a blue skin (but it will break the effect of the game)

the second is: put a different hat on models. So: two models for players, but for that, i need coder or to learn code

how can i enter the source code ? I have been developping lot of utility programs and games in Basic and Qbasic when i was young, maybe i can understand how c++ works ?


to ripbillymays: replace init.cfg by the older version. reading Makke make me think that it must be the problem

Yes, you can make your own menus.cfg file (and, technically, any of the .cfg files) for the mod. Basically any file in AssaultCube can have a mod version in a mod folder.

Approved! Two thumbs up!
I'd leave out the following:
init.cfg
saved.cfg
autoexec.cfg (the commands you've provided in there can go into the default menus.cfg as a mod.)

I'd like a way to more easily tell teams apart.
I'd also like a better-sounding pistol sound.
Other than that, you've done a really great and comprehensive job! ^_^ Much fun!

for the pistol, yep, there is something to do, the model himself doesen't satisfy me

could you change it into a mod and bring me the result with modify the good menus ?

Except, the main difference is that I wish I looked that "good" in a hawaiian shirt under a suit coat.

To change your mod, all you need to do is delete from it those .cfg files I mentioned.

To do the choisiskin thing, I'd recommend adding check2add.cfg to your mod, then you can add this to your modified menus.cfg:
exec config\check2add.cfg

if (curteam) [showmenu RVSF] [showmenu CLA]

addcheck_si choisiskin
alias choisiskin [skin (rnd 8)]
This way, start_intermission is added to (not replaced), and users can keep their autoexec.cfg, saved.cfg, and init.cfg files the way they prefer. I also changed it so the menu shown depends on your team.

LOL i never had so much fun playing AC before :)

OMG very funny mode nade are superb just a little need to improve the playermodels but i guess they are fun to play with xD. Just one suggestion instead of health use Pizza :P and make the ammo float a bit high sometime its very hard to see those on ground.

I wish you could make Mario mode one day ;)
