The Mayans never predicted the end of the world to be Dec 21st 2012.
Their calender ends on that day. They did 2,000 years worth of calender carving.
If you were to make a calender.... how many thousands of years would you make it for?
They just got tired of carving. Or their calender was aesthetically pleasing at the point they stopped.
Only a couple of references to the 2012 date equivalency have been found carved in stone at Maya sites, and neither refers to an apocalypse.
The whole idea was manufactured by a bunch of New Age hippies in the 70's.
ALSO*
I thought you were Mexican?
I figured you would know that the Mayans still exist.
AND*
They DID fight the Spaniards for quite some time
