i dont mean to seem disrespectful but how come so many people gave a toss when this guy said he was leaving and then there's other people who don't even get a sarcastic 'cya'?

I understand where you are coming from mate. It doesn't seem fair or right that some people get ignored. I think you are going to find that most online communities (or even real communities) are like that though. When you are around longer, you are simply going to be known by more people in the community. I played for something like 1.5 years before I quit.
