firstly, you've only just heard about it?
secondly, it's not that special.
thirdly, you're probably wondering how to say it? It's quite easy really. Just split it up.
Tau - mata - whaka - tangi - hanga - koaua-uotama - teapokai - whenua - kitana - tahu

("toe" "ma" "ta" "fa" "ka" "tarn" "gee")
I live in a suburb called "Papatoetoe"
("pa" "pa" "toy" "toy")
There's a town with a bit of controversy over an "H" called "W(h)anganui". Apparently, the europeans incorrectly made it spelt, for all these years, as "wanganui", when it should be "whanganui".
("thong" "a" "nu" "e")

While we're at it, I present the longest official german word (unofficial combinations of nouns, verbs and adjectives can actually be infinite in german):
"Rindfleischettikettierungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz"
Rough translation: law for passing on tasks concerning the labelling of beef.

And in English there's the specially-tailored "pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis"!

This reminds me of long discussions about the longest words in our languages :D
Precipitevolissimevolmente used to be the longest Italian word; it means "[to do something] very quickly", while the new longest one is psiconeuroendocrinoimmunologia.
