How fast is your internet?

You know people...
Most of you are more than capable of hosting a (small) AC server, even with your poor bandwidth.
Check out this:
http://wiki.cubers.net/action/view/Serve...quirements

With an upload of just 0.50 Mb/s, you can host a 8 person server (although I would recommend making it a 6 player just to be on the safe side).
So many clans complain about not having a server to use for matches, etc. Ridiculous!

The U|Canada Servers are run on an old machine with a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 processor, 512 MB of RAM, running Windows 2000, on a connection with 0.85 Mb/s upload, and they are completely stable.

One thing I should say before you decide to go host your server, though:
Make sure it runs on a wired connection, and NOT a wireless one!

You are right... But some players come then and consider you as a "noob" with "server @ home", and then insult you just for this, etc. (It happened to me, and not only with A&D).

So if you do that with a server... My advice could be : keep it private.

Right, because I need offsite hosting to run a server that measures throughput in bytes. I'll run my home server and anyone silly enough to bother whoising the address and getting worked up because it's a residential ISP can go get a life.

No one really gives a damn whether or not your server is residential. As long as it can support the players and remains stable, it's good. The problem arises when the server lags because there are too many slots for the upload bandwidth, or the host insists on running torrents/botnet node/skype at the same time, and insists there's nothing wrong or simply doesn't care.

@U|Zarj; When I get a new computer, I plan on making it more secure, and running a part time server. Probably only for testing scripts and such.

16ms ping on 700miles seems good consider the other posts here.
I found a new program that has some internet tweaks that made everything wonderful also, will try some more.

Been on 56k for the last 29 days, I couldn't load the speedtest.net site.

Telecom closed down their old plan and forced everyone onto a 20gb plan, unfortunately I hadn't realized this and had already gone over my cap in the first couple of days (a 20gb plan in NZ costs the same as a 100gb+ plan in US/canada)
