You know I read Links rubish this morning and I first was angry then sad and now well I just accept that as time goes on people will not remember 9/11 in the same way as me. It was not an attack on America as so many believe nor whas it an attack on democracy as many polititians will say, it was an attack on normal people going about their normal jobs, one day some of you may work in buildings simular, some of you may already, my hope is that on days like this you wont do what I do and look to the sky with a tear in my eye for those who will never again feel the warmth of an early Spetember morning...
Gone but not forgotten.

RIP.
For those who cannot remember or cannot imagine what this feels like for many Americans, I'd suggest reading or watching Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer.

RIP the 3,000 that died in 2001 on this day (11/9).
RIP the 14 Estonian soldiers that drowned (Kurkse Tragedy).
RIP the 6 Hawaiians that died in 1992 on this day (Hurricane Iniki).
RIP the 50 people that were shot and killed outside a church. (St. Jean Bosco Massacre).
RIP the 3,500 refugees that died as a result of a guarantee made by international forces (Sabra and Shatila Massacre).
RIP the one NYPD bomb squad specialist that died due to another 'specialist' who couldn't disarm a bomb properly, even though he was given instructions.
RIP the 71 people who died due to "the flightcrew's lack of altitude awareness and poor cockpit discipline" (Eastern Air Lines Flight 212).
RIP the 95 who died due to a fire at the back of a plane (Air France Flight 1611).
RIP the 43 who died due to an intense hurricane (Hurricane Carla).
RIP the 29 who died due an intense hurricane 7 years earlier (Hurricane Edna).
RIP the 11,500 who died due to a war created by scumbags (Bombing of Darmstadt).
I think that's everything since the beginning of World War II.
EDIT: BTW, these all happened on the 11th of September.

I can only imagine what the parents of people like Link would think about seeing some of the things their child says to mock a tragedy such as this. I'm disappointed and I don't even know him/her personally.
Time doesn't heal wounds of the heart nearly quick enough.
RIP to all the innocent men/women/children/heroes that passed because of 9/11. You'll never be forgotten.

Sadly not even close ^^ But I do agree that this day belongs to all from any country, creed or religion killed unjustly, the worst thing about it all is that it keeps happening, from suicide bombers to idiots dressed up as jokers to children shooting their classmates and right wing extremist killing children at a camp site.
The most fitting tribute to all of these people would be to stop needlessly killing each other...

I've never read the book, but the film is exploitative and I don't recommend it. However, it does focus more on the aftermath of the tragedy and the emotional toll attached. Watch this Reign Over Me instead imo.
But that's a digression. RIP to all of those who have been affected by the tragedy. It's a topic you do not show irreverence to, and those people that do are the reasons people lose hope in humanity. It still rings loudly, directly with people around my way in the Northeast US, and there will still be those deeply affected for many years to come.
RIP, and also thank you to those who volunteered and showed support in some way in the days/months/years following the tragedy

The book RR recommended is good.
Supposedly the movie isn't as good.

Sadly enough, there's quite a bit of truth to what Vermi posted (barring the last line). I was one of many of those 7-year-olds...
May I ask what it was Link posted?
And how many warning points did he receive? :>

There's a rule about no advertising on this forums.
Then again, there's a rule about no simple "lol"ing either.
Hm.

Hm. Stating your political views technically ain't actually advertising. If so, then me saying that I love to eat red chicken and to say that all of you must buy it would be considered advertising as well.
advertising: "the activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services"
Plus, I highly doubt someone would change his/her political views by reading another post on these forums.

9/11 for me is a day to remember not only those who died in the attack on the world trade centre, but everyone everywhere whose lives were stolen from them not by some incurable disease, or by time, but by the actions of people. I would like to think in this 'civilised' day and age murder does not happen but 9/11 is symbolic of the fact that it does. Right now, all the time.
We can put a man on the moon, but we can't teach people wrong from right.

I was watching the news, when the second plane hit my mom and I just stood there in silence, I personally couldn't believe that was an accident, wich wasn't.
The only thing worse than that day, and all the people that died on 9/11 is the people that died after the war began.

RIP those who died. Also, RIP those who lost their lives needlessly in the ensuing "war on terrorism."
Unfortunately, (this comment may be somewhat blunt) we lost the war. Sure, we "won" and killed Osama, but we lost the "war on terrorism." How? Because the definition of terrorist is someone who induces fear through violent acts.
On 9/11, they succeeded in inducing a fear of all Muslims, Islamic groups, regardless of who they are, and most Middle Eastern people with this attack. American paranoia grew to outlandish territories, and they won the war. Did they lose more bodies? Yes. Did their leaders get killed and/or ousted? Yes. But in the end, the fear they spread through America still resonates and grows stronger today.
Over 50% of Americans do not like Middle Easterns just due to this attack. Over 65% are suspicious/ fearful of their Middle Eastern neighbors.
We lost the war, and we lost it badly. The terrorists won, they spread fear faster than any pandemic with one attack.
