With all the treads with huge flame wars about every aspect of AC, this should be a thread you can reference to back up your arguments about stuff.
I'm kinda a noob here, but it seems the goal of AC is to make the best open source game possible while being simple, taking place in realish environments, having fast & arcade gameplay, and being playable and downloadable over dial-up.
The goal of AC should not be being AC; changing gameplay for the better should be acceptable.
What do ya'll (I feel so texan) think the goal of AC should be?

I suppose like you said, to provide a fantastic open source game for the general public, and accessible to just about anyone.
I tried Urban Terror after trying this, and I just keep coming back to AC. :)

In my experience the goal is normally at either end of the field and I normally try to put the ball in it.

What we need to establish is what about AC enhances the fun, and what about AC diminishes the fun.
+Fun: lots of custom mods and scripts to play with, friendly people to shoot at
- Fun: Rudeness / trolls, desert TOSOK 24-7, cheaters, malicious hackers
