1) Crossbow is in the same category as sniper, actually.
2) LMG, kind of. It's a bit of an AR honestly. Also, it would be hard to balance this weapon.

A lot of the suggestions for "new weapons" could easily be satisfied by a good mod. for example, there is a scar mod in the assault rifle section on this site. I haven't tried it, but it looks nice. Check it out!

Just make LMG jam/overheat if too many shots are fired in one burst, so people have to wait for it cool down or something.

Also, flamethrower would be pretty cool. Splash damage, and sets your clothes on fire for some continuous damage after.

Hrmm...I like the idea of a revolver as a kind of slow and clunky but high power version of the current pistol. It might even tempt me to use the secondary more!
For the current primary weapons, they're alright as they are. Just try and find a way to keep them all at the same usefulness and I'll be happy :)

Tell that to every other fps which is just as simple and has 50+ weapons perfectly balanced.

and I like taking a break from hardcore stuff and getting easy stuff on AC once in a while, even if the weapons all hate me :)

Most of them have better guns that can be unlocked by paying cash or being a really good player.

Because, assuming you use those stats, you can hold the trigger for 13 seconds straight. 100 bullets would be close to 30 seconds, and that'd just be overkill.

45 is significant enough to have a "big clip" feeling, while still staying in range with the other weapons

yeah, it's already more powerful than the AR with twice the clip (using ventex's stats). The spread should probably be more than the smg, imo, with about the same recoil as AR.

Like I suggested, make the thing overheat/jam if the burst is too long (e.g. at 15 rounds per second, make it overheat after 3-4 seconds, and provide a large clip).

I don't see how it makes camping easier with that compared to any other weapon. But anyhow, LMG's are usually "Support" weapons. Meaning run out spraying like a madman while your team runs by using you as cover. Obviously that would be less used in AC for that reason...CTF could definitely still use that "strategy"
but run into their base and spray like crazy to destroy their camping <3

well, reduced the damage then and increase recoil. there is a point where MGs will balance with the current weapons that AC has.

Revised Concept LMG Stats:
  • Damage: 17 (6-shot kill)
  • Attackdelay: 130 ms
  • Reload: 2900 ms
  • Ammo: 60 magsize, 60 base, 120 max
  • Spread: Consistently low
  • Kickback: High, even more than AR
  • Recoil: Lower than AR
Now, assuming these stats, here is how the gun would stack against other weapons:

Pros:
  • Great for long range defense
  • Large Clip; can allow 10 kills on unarmored enemies
  • Effect Rifle-Sprinting
Cons:
  • Slightly long time to kill
  • Reload time is a handicap
  • Hard to move forward while shooting
  • Having only one spare clip to start means you will have to scavenge a bit

So what place would a gun like this have in AC? If the SMG were to rival the AR, this gun would be rivaling the Carbine. Both are slow to kill, but effective at defending your base if you have a good line-of-sight.

I very much want a LMG in AssaultCube!
