An alternative:

While being in edit mode move close the the blue sparkle which indicates an entity, until it turns orange, which means it's "selected". Now keep pressing either 1, 2, 3 or 4 (not on the keypad) and scroll with the mousewheel. This will change the 4 entity-parameters.

For instance [mapmodel a, b, c ,d]:

a = orientation
b = number of mapmodel according to the current map's config file
c = elevation aboth ground
d = applied texture

This way you can place any mapmodel (/newent mapmodel 1, which could be bound to a shortkey) and scroll through until you've got what you've been looking for.

Though of course, having a list printed off next to you will do the trick as well. :)

It is worth mentioning however, that trick will not work while coop editing, the other clients will not see the change. :(

This is a good list to have, especially as the foundation for script-based mapmodel editing. Nice work! :D

Uhm .. isn't that why we have a menu for it?
But, since I seldom use menus myself, I can understand you may want a different handle on this sort of thing. Upgrading the editor with some niceties has been a prime desire of mine - but in this specific regard I really don't see much we can do to improve it.
I would personally approach this in the following way .. assuming I wasn't looking to use a mapmodel I regularly use and had the index memorized or scribbled down: I would toggle fullscreen, open a console and take a look at config/default_map_settings.cfg.
For one thing - the numbers are already all there and for another - I'd instantly see that the list posted above is wrong, it seems it was created with some map.cfg loaded (which did not contain mapmodelreset) containing additional models (136 ff). The official list ends with the blue milkcrate.

Thanks Floppy! I didn't know about changing things orientation like that. That's very useful.

By the way TigrisWarrior, thank you for doing this very useful list. It's very pleasant to have newcomers like you that instead of asking 50 questions that are found at the first page of the docs, they actually crave to help the community. Good for you :)

Seems useful ;), thanks for making the list. Now if only I could find the time to finish detailing and adding spawns to my map. Is this other list really that outdated? http://mathiasb.000space.com/textures/ seems ok to me...you can also change some of this stuff in configs as well.
