Cannot connect to any servers
#1
I am running openSUSE 11.3 and I recently upgraded to version 1.1. I now cannot connect to any servers. Next to each on the selection screen, it says "Newer Protocol." And when I try and enter one anyway, it says "you are using different game protocol (you: 1129 server 1130). How can I fix this?

what does it say when you type /version ? it should say 1101, not 1100, which i think runs on 1129 protocol

install newest version from scratch (do not try to override old one)

Sorry I haven't responded. I just checked the version, and it read 1100. Also, I just downloaded the latest version from sourceforge and am running that. I still cannot connect.

click the link on the side of the ac homepage and download it from that link (even though it is probably the same). you are definitely on the wrong version. also, when you install it, make sure you dont just overwrite the old version.

I uninstalled all the previous version's files, including the hidden screenshot folder. Now, when I run the new assaultcube.sh, I get error message 8.

What's "error message 8"?

This is what I see when I run assaultcube.sh from terminal. The screen goes black momentarily, then back to desktop.

@greasem0nkey

Try get the trunk source and compile it.
Maybe it is a graphics driver issue... But I have no skill to help you, tbh.

The n-th time now: there appears to be a bug in OpenSUSE's libjpeg implementation. You can try building either AC or libjpeg from source code.
