[Competition] Interface Design for EggCube launcher
#1
Hello everyone, I and Amirooo are working on creating a launcher found on Bitbucket and Github for AC and AC forks. In the launcher I have been in charge of front-end design and Amirooo has been doing mostly back-end programming.

Currently the launcher looks like it does in this thread: https://forum.cubers.net/thread-8866-pos...#pid172860

We've held a design competition with the GEMA community 2 months ago and the people active in that discussion at the time came up with these designs:

We want to know what the AC community thinks of the current layout and design of the launcher. If you don't agree with the above,then compete and show us something that you believe to be better in terms of design and layout and tell us why. Also if you don't mind, download and test the current release so you have an idea of how it works.

Everyone has until the beginning of October to show their designs.

It's an application, not a gallery — take the silly backgrounds out.

UI needs serious work:
  • group items into logical groups;
  • explain what items do. What is "Add +", "Delete -", or that database icon? The dropdown?
  • use the system font / colours;
  • look up what a grid is and how to use it;
  • keep the style consistent across the whole application.

Ah!  A tad harsh that but I agree with SKB in some points.
But it's quite obvious SDK never ventured into trying the launcher, otherwise he would know what Add delete is for.  But carry on with the good work iggs. Nice to see someone making efforts.
Hope you get your rewards from this.
But am curious why QT ?
Why not Visual Studio ?  Its free . Have to say though it is wrought with bugs. Like the toolbox keeps disappearing.  I had to edit the registry to get the toolbox to reset itself.  Other than that a nice package.  Especially as it ports to Mac and android/linux. Even win95 god forbid why anyone would want to do that IDK but heyo.

@SKB: are you going to compete or just to provide general criticism? Let me know if you are going to compete or if you are working secretely on it ;D
