Looking for a program to view md2/md3 files
#1
I need a md2/md3 viewer. I find that all md2 viewers made for quake2 cannot load png skins, they only allow pcx with quake2 colors. Also I cannot find a md3 viewer that works.

Any ideas?

I believe blender can view both those file types http://www.blender.org/ but you would need to use addon scripts

md3 http://icculus.org/~phaethon/q3/md3impor...mport.html
md2 http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extens...Import/MD2

I dont know anything about modelling but i guess this is what you need.

Npherno's MD3 viewer/compiler does it, and does it well.
Npherno MD3

Npherno MD3

I've tried this but it doesn't work well because it was designed for Quake3.

It doesn't support png/jpg skins which most ac skins are.
The model control is screwed up and you can never align anything.
I've never been able to apply a skin after converting it to a supported format like bmp.

I'll give blender a shot, but it seems a bit too complex for simply viewing a md2/md3 model with a loaded skin.

Good luck with that.

Have a look at this Blender & md2 intro, might help; as far as I know md3 support is available through an add-on.

Well, as long your only concern is to have a tool to load md2/3 models and make screenshots you may try Misfit Model 3D. It's for free, platform independent and supports md2/3 by default.

You could try 7-Zip. It will allow you to view basically any compressed file, although re-compressing can be a bit of an issue.

Well excuse me. I'm a skin modder in Medal of Honor, so I don't do much AC (any!) modding. However, after I researched a little on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MD3 I have concluded that I was wrong. You have the right to laugh at my ignorance. ROFL ;)

You hit it on the head man. I think that players should be able to say anything that they want (non-offensive!).

P.S.: If you hate me then, Windows users, hold down Alt on your keyboard then press F4 while still holding Alt. ANGRY NOW?
