Severe Drop in FPS
#1
I'm sure others have experienced this, but I'm not sure it has ever been discussed.

It isn't really game-breaking but it is hard for me to understand what might cause it. If you aim all the way down at your feet and walk around (regardless of map) it actually increases workload instead of reducing it like looking directly at a wall.

Could it be the game is rendering everything around you at the same time when you look straight down?

I also recorded some FPS issues, I've noticed it happens especially in huge maps (huge in volume) and only when I aim at a far point. In corners I have 200 (maybe a lot more, I just set my maxfps at 200) but in huge rooms I have less than 100.

Well, that's expected. Slowdowns when staring at your feet aren't.

Most parts of the game engine treat the map as twodimensional - as does, for example, the occlusion algorithm. And when you're looking straight down, you are looking in all directions - it doesn't matter how far.
However - for a game engine made for ego shooters, it's not a real issue.

That's what I thought, but 20-30 fps from ~200 is wak.
