Monitoring a remote server

I'm experiencing some problems with my server losing registration to the masterserver, i have tried using different ports but it makes no difference.

I'm thinking it may be a problem with the host, is there a way to monitor the conection remotely, ie any software that will keep pinging the server and recording the results say once a minute.

I understand some networking but i'm no expert so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Write your own software in bash or python that pings the server. It's easy.
