can weapon models have transparent textures?

Yep, they can. You need to write this in your config: alphatest 100
But: They can't be half-transparent, just completly invisible, or not :(

Yep.
The part of the texture, you want to have transparent, must be transparent.
Also, you have to use a .png picture.

Mhm, yes, their are may bugs, with this alphatest in AC.
