Hi. I'm new. Just discovered AssaultCube because I saw it on a TV show as one of the best free FPS games ever. Been playing singleplayer, and I think that TV show wasn't lying.
Now, I want to experience multiplayer, but I can't find any servers. I press ESC, choose Multiplayer, then Connect, but nothing shows. Just "ping" and 3 others that I can't remember. It also says "Master Server not replying".
I've read the Thread on "If you can't connect, start here", but nothing seems to help. I've already allowed the client on my Firewall.
If this is of any interest, I am also using UltraSurf. Might this be the culprit?
Thanks in advance.

Since you've read the "...if you cannot connect..." thread, I'll assume you're using 1.1.0.4. Ultrasurf sounds like it could be the culprit, since a lot of proxy IPs are blocked due to overuse by cheats. However, in 5 minutes of reading up on Ultrasurf, I'm confused as to how, exactly, it works. It doesn't seem to be a simple proxy solution. If you could let me know what nick you're using, here or in a PM, or you try to connect to my server ("/connect ac-jamz.com" - without the ""), I'll see if I can pinpoint the problem. The IP address you used to post here is NOT blocked.

Yes, I am using that version. I'll try connecting to the server that you posted. What do you mean by "nick"? My in-game nickname? If so, I'll PM it later. Thanks.
I have tried connecting to your server, to no avail.
I too am quite confused on how UltraSurf works. All I know is that it's a proxy, but I can't even access most porn sites (sad, I know). It does, however, have a wonderful side-effect: it skips my Internet Service Provider's billing system (I'm on a prepaid dongle). Free internet, limited porn, a rather questionable trade off, but I have to deal with it (also one of the reasons why I play AssaultCube, as it is in my budget, which is free).
Again, thank you.

I'm not seeing any connection attempts in my log, or the masterserver log, from the IP you've used here, so it's possible that Ultrasurf has a problem with UDP, the transport protocol used by AC. A simple test would be to temporarily disable/remove Ultrasurf and see if the problem is fixed.
edit: Although this doesn't explain why you can see some servers.

What's UDP? I'll try to disable UltraSurf. If it works, problem solved. If not, I'll try again.
Also, what servers?
I tried without Ultrasurf, still, nothing. Might be the fact that I have no prepaid credits on my dongle (I know. The word sounds dirty.)

Uh, are you using an IPv6 tunnel by any chance? The IP you used to post here shows up as belonging to Hurricane Electric. I have no idea how, but if that's the case, it might be causing problems.
@jamz: he can't see any servers if I understood him correctly,
Quote:Just "ping" and 3 others that I can't remember.
is just the header of the server list.

Two good points tempest.
Yes, he could have been talking about the other headings.
And, my colleague at work had problems with IPv6 on Win7. Removed IPv6 support; problem solved.

Yes, that's it. No servers show up.
How do I remove IPv6 support?

Not specifically an AC issue - try this.

A TV show for video games. It's got a segment promoting free games off the net. Kinda like X-Play's Games for Cheap Bastards.
Here's the show's site: http://www.espnstar.com/game/

I know this is offtopic, but you get +10 internetz for being the first new player I've seen with proper usage of grammar.

WAIITT WAT?! Y U NO UNDRSTND.
[ontopic] If I understand what you mean, IPv6 support shouldn't be the problem. With the 'dongle' whatever that means, shouldn't you be getting (and probably only) IPv4 support?
Correct me if I've misunderstood. [/ontopic]

The wireless broadband's like that where I'm from. It can support both.
Maybe it really is the proxy that I'm using that's been messing with my connection to servers.
You've all been very helpful. I'm glad to know that this game has one of the nicest people around. (Unlike some online forums I know. Hahaha)

As far as I know the MS doesn't block any proxies? I could be wrong though.

I tend to agree; however, I believe most of the popular blacklists block proxy services.

The MS does block proxies that have been used by cheats.
