Permanent Bind
#1
Like if I bind 9 to say Hi it works and it stays. But if I bind like mouse3 or something to do a quick knife attack, when I quit and reopen, I have to rebind it. Is there a way to fix this. Or can I bind a key that rebinds another key?

If you bound a key to bind another key, what's to say that key would stay bound?

Sounds like your saved.cfg isn't written to when you quit.

if its in your autoexec.cfg it should stay there always

Always put your binds in autoexec.cfg so they don't get destroyed when you have to do a resetcfg. But take a look in there to see if you don't already have a MOUSE3 bind.

The problem is I dont type it in the file. I just open my game and type into the chatbox /bind. The noob way.

To follow up on what Mael said, type it in the chatbox, then as soon you quit AC go into your home directory/config/saved.cfg and look for your bind there. If the bind is there then it's something in your autoexec that's conflicting.

haha yeah, typing it in-game is always temporary.
If you want it to stay around, you'll need to put it in your autoexec.cfg file.

All my previous binds and scripts ever were typed in chat ;]

But as you can see...it doesn't work very well.

bind "KEY" [command]

In your autoexec is your best bet.
