As everyone should know many uprisings and protests have been occurring not only in the Middle East, but around the world. The internet and computers have played a very special, very important role in all of these events. Whether you are for or against protests, the impact of the medium that we are so familiar with, especially those of the younger generations, has had a lasting effect on the world in its ability to spread information and ideas across the Earth. I find this a truly amazing thing. As an online "tech-savvy" computer based community I would guess that this probably strikes us a huge achievement.
My question: How do you view the use of the internet in its role in the modern world?

fine. I think that the internet will help advance the modern world because it makes it harder to consolidate power by giving more people access to communication, which makes it easier for everyone to have equal power. One of the things that all dictators will remove from their subjects (as much as they can) is access to information (not counting propaganda), and this is for a good (for the dictator) reason.
God, i feel like i just wrote a thesis for school. :P
you're right, though, It is an interesting subject.

I am currently too tired to type out a full response; however, I notice internet can be used for a couple things:
You can use it to spread ideas.
You can use it to prevent the spread of ideas.
Simply put, governments can filter out what they don't want. However, people can educate themselves.

In essence, the internet has given us a shitload of information. Such an amount of info would be almost impossible to get we had before teh intr0netz were discovered.
