FPS Drop Out of Nowhere
#1
I usually have a fps range of 170 - 230, but today I launched AC and I saw my fps being in the 80 - 95 range. What could have provoked this? As far as I remember I haven't done any changes to the graphics this week; I also tried restarting me laptop but the fps stayed.

Any ideas? I'm on a Macbook Snow Leopard version 10.6.5

I thought you'd know this by now, after giving tons of advice to people. Back up, then get rid of your autoexec and saved.cfg, then redo the settings. Bukz' stat script gave me an fps drop.
Edit: check vsync as well.

you tried redoing /maxfps and all?

Just after posting I backed up the autoexec and put an empty one and the fps went back up.

I'm thinking the personal ladder script may be the problem, I'll try taking stuff out to see what is messing the fps.

@JGAN: First thing I did.

EDIT: Solved. Looks like the Personal Ladder Script was the problem :/

I'm willing to bet, once we translate the stats script into tools.cfg format, it'll run more smoothly and forget fewer all-time stats.

How can that script drop your FPS by almost 120??

I had a similar problem my fps dropped to 9-12, I don't know what was the problem. I have tried everything but in vain. After re-installing AC and deleting saved.cfg, my fps has become normal (25-60).

PS: I'm using the Personal Ladder Script.

Due to the size of saved.cfg and autoexec.cfg (sometimes) along with other scripts, the personal ladder script may not be the culprit. To troubleshoot, first reset your settings and remove all scripts, then set up the settings normally, then install scripts one by one.

The stats script is almost certainly the culprit, though not directly. If it is the first script you put on a fresh saved.cfg file, the scripts after it won't be bothered so much, and your FPS should stay normal. Gibstick's suggestion should do the trick.

The FPS depression should be even less pronounced once all the console looping is consolidated.

Buying a new graphics card would most probably help.
