3DSMax 2010 Help

I've been using 3DSMax 2010 for about 4 days, but right now I don't have a clue what to do. I've been working on this M16 for about a day and a half, but I don't know how to stick pieces together, edit (or even view, for that matter) the UV map and I don't know how I'm going to do the remaining parts (the ones with just the line outline). Does anyone have any ideas of how I could do any of these, and if so could they tell me?

For a first model, I think this is quite good, tbh. Any criticism is appreciated.

There's a Combine button under the Modify tab of the Polygon/Animation tab in Maya. It's been a while since I've used either one but I think that's where it is in both programs.

As for UV maps, you need to be in the Animation tab, select all, Edit UVs tab, UV Snapshot, specify the resolution and some other variables, and save it where you want it.
