Guys, something is up.

i was just browsing around sourceforge a few hours ago, when i saw an AD for ASSAULT CUBE. i was dumbfounded, and i couldnt think of anything to do, so i clicked the ad and it took me to this page. i fell completely off my chair this time. the page is so sketch, the background is a composite of cod and killzone 2 wallpapers.
i downloaded one of the so called 'clients' off this page and it gave my computer aids. (and a bing toolbar for firefox dohohoho)

as the AC community, what should we do?
somebody should do something, or at least ask a few questions

i was joking a bit about the computer aids part. but i did get the toolbar. aside from that it seems nothing has changed... (thats usually my indicator that a virus is afoot)
wait... mael, did you do this? if so, why?

It's because we are wary of bots on the AC forum and spam and of course viruses. So was it just a toolbar that was harmless? Are you sure?

Hey guys.

I came to this forum and registered an account to tell you that it looks like someone is advertising and distributing an alternative download for AssaultCube and their version has probably been modified to contain malware.

This is a cap from the Facebook ad http://i.imgur.com/iuhlp.png The site url is "assault-cube dot com"

Right now, there download link on their front page refers to a file on sourceforge, but earlier today it was something like www.licensingsomething.com/234234/ (installer exe)

Right now there is also an different download url on their News page that goes to
http://72.52.143.151/~facebook/assaultcube/ AssaultCube-Installer dot exe
If these guys are trying to pull a scam, that version might still be malware.

Then again, maybe they are legit. ?? Maybe they are spending time and money advertising and distributing AC out of their love for the game (as well as mis-advertising DarkOrbit as CounterStrike for some reason...).

I would strongly recommend that you guys watch that site and check their exes. AC is awesome and it would suck for it to be abused as a malware vector.
