Im sure there are some people that have a problem with any maps that gets popular.

"overly popular" - indeed. Even the best maps get boring when they're being played everywhere, all the time. If I was in favor of maprot restrictions, I would also ask for desert TOSOK to be banned.

As long as you can find a server to play something else (as is still the case), that sounds alright.
