debian install

Hi Team

new install here tried

[SELECT ALL] Code:

apt-get install libsdl1.2debian libsdl-image1.2 zlib1g libogg0 libvorbis0a libopenal1 libcur

then

[SELECT ALL] Code:

apt-get install assaultcube assaultcube-data

apt-get completes with success
then i assume the need to run
./configure
make
make install

The compiler states root@debian:~/debian# make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop.

Ive even tried http://downloads.sourceforge.net/actiong....2.tar.bz2
resulting error 404 not found

as well have tried
assaultcube_1.1.0.4+dfsg2-1ubuntu1.debian.tar.gz
then
tar xvfg assaultcube_1.1.0.4+dfsg2-1ubuntu1.debian.tar.gz
seems to extract and create directories
but I cant make sense of the readme install
make command says no target
even when i am in the sub directory untar creates directory named "debian"
at location under download with root permissions

Any Sugestions?
