Welp. Went on AC today. Was the first time in a couple months and I ran into ShadowZ and we had a little in-game chat about what's happening to the game. I'm sad to say that it looks even more dead now than it did when I was on last. We can collectively come to a conclusion. AC was a generational thing. Most people who have stopped playing have done so because they are at a point in their life where they must pay attention to more important things. Some of the ex-ACers have families. Some could have high-paying intensive careers. Everyone who has moved on is about the same age. We can see that, with these players gone, the AC community wasn't tacking on more members to compensate for the losses.
So I posted a poll here...I want to know: would you guys care if AC just kind of slips away and stops being played all together in a couple years? I mean I want honest answers. I'm not trying to sound like a dick when I ask that question so please don't be offended. I'm just wondering if anyone here really really wants the game around anymore.
I mean I do. I don't get on very much at all and I've given up making maps but I still love the game for what it is/was.
I guess if people care about this game so much so that they want to see a resurgence in community activity, then something must be done to initiate this activity. I've probably said it before but the game needs publicity. I don't know if that means spamming every single gaming forum inviting people to come try it out or not. Hell, I know many of you are opposed to this but even putting the game on steam could be a good idea to get more to play.
If you feel as though there is a way to revitalize AC community, I'd love to hear it.
