I agree with the slow-paced part, though. 1.1 feels very... sticky and awkward. I went to play 1.04 after a week or so of 1.1, and...

Once upon a time I went looking for a game that my then-crap laptop could handle, and came across AssaultCube. I was looking for a single-player game, and the bots were good fun for an hour or so, but then I got bored of everyone being glued to each other in their own base, and decided to venture on-line. Dust2 was booming, 24/7 20-slot bs_dust2 were abundant, but I had fun. Lots of fun.
And no, I've never played CS:S. I had never played dust2 before, in any game.
But the fun had nothing to do with the map, but rather, the gameplay. It was fast, dangerous, deadly. That's what I liked about it. And only when I played 1.04, I sorta realised it...
