After quite actively playing AC for more than two years now (I say quite actively because I did play some in .93), I can assure you that the idea you have suggested is not new, and will likely never be implemented. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's just not one that'll fit into the game.
Furthermore, AssaultCube has already a large variety of modes. If there's anything to stop the game from becoming to repetitive, it would be having editable parameters that will change the gameplay--aka allowing servers to run with modified physics, health, etc. That way, if you want to play a game with strange rules with your friends, you can do it rather easily, and it won't be it's own mode. I'm pretty sure it'll never happen though, but hey, I'm already satisfied with what we have ;)
