Today humanity has lost one of its most extraordinary children. Nelson Mandela, the hero of all those who strive for a society where skin color does not endear or devalue anyone.
Nelson Mandela was a hero who suffered for decades in prison but did not betray his people and his ideals. Nelson Mandela chose to go to jail even when liberty was offered him as a reward for treason.
When I was a teenager the struggle against apartheid in South Africa was the first international issue that mobilized me and since then I have Nelson Mandela with one of my great heroes.
Madiba, you never die! His leadership will be everlasting and you will live in every gesture, every word, in every struggle for a free humanity of racism and prejudice.
