The FX8350 is actually not that bad if you're not a gamer... But if you are, the 3570K is pretty hard to beat in its price range. (Opting for the i7 3770K for gaming offers zero gains and less money in your wallet, but you do get a bigger e-peen)
Here's a biased (IMO) review on the FX8350:
Sure the AMD performs better on a few titles, and thanks to that I now know why I can't quite max out Metro 2033...
But overall the Intel still reigns supreme. IIRC AMD stated they won't be competing with Intel anymore (because they can't) and will instead focus on the mobile market, i.e. APUs.
