especially in an open source environment, permission and respect for the work, are very different things. Not because you can you should do ...
then this RaverZ comes to the forum and its 1st thread says it's important the opinion of the players ...
and ends by saying "Please share the ones you think would be a great addition to the team!"
what?

Well, they are having hard times contacting them, if they manage to, check at Halo's post, it took him 6 months, do you realise how long 6 months is on internet? Plus most of the time (I think nobody ever refused) they just accept, if they want to get their map up to date and playable, it's normal to allow some modifications on their maps, it should even be a condition to agree with when your map is reaching the official status. And this ethical condition isn't even respected all the time, I remember reporting ac_desert's bug to RandomKiwi in the past and his answer was that it was mapper's will (my ass), but he never asked me or Undead before modifying ac_swamp at the last minute, he removed some parts of the map without saying he did, changed a ladder clip into something stupid and removed a few mapmodels without telling us, then he dares to ask me to not insult him with words that are describing him perfectly. I remember well this forum sentence on the forum that said "only mods should mod" or something like that, well this kind of statement should also be applied to the dev team, since he is incompetant at mapping, he should have called Bukz or Lucas to deal with ac_swamp issues, and if they could not, he should have recruited someone who have some mapping knowledges. Let me introduce you the only active "project leader".

Well I am aware of the dev team. I was more or less referring to mappers messing with other people's work and not the dev team doing so.
I can tell a few stories on RK modding maps. The worse case being ac_wasteland. Yes, I'm aware the original version wasn't that great, but the version now isn't either in my opinion. There isn't much I could do about that, I fixed it up to what I liked and what I thought others would like. RK comes around and adds all these mapmodels and junk and puts in back in the package. I didn't have much say in that matter. A similar story can be told about ac_arctic too back in 0.93. Respect for mappers and their work has went downhill over the years and I would like to point the finger at a poor person being over such and representing mapping in the dev team. The idea at one point (and I still have some of the emails about it) is that there would be a mapping team instead of a mapping dev. I am still in favor of this idea. A group of 4-6 people who actually listen to the community and work together to make changes to maps and to add maps to the official package. Back when it was first talked about it would have been myself, makke, meatrome, randum, and floppy. Obviously a lot of those aren't here with us anymore, but I would like to think that this would be the better route instead of one or two people over it forcing their opinion on others. More people, more opinions, more likely to get it right. That is how I feel about it.

HALO, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT RK IS THE SAME PERSON WHO CREATED AC_AQUEOUS AND STILL ALLOWS IT TO BE OFFICIAL
Sorry for the caps, but abortion is an important thing therefore such abortion can't be officialised

Aqueous is awesome. Werk should be fired. Back on topic, I've talked to Pablo and he seems to be interested.

JAPABLON aka Pablo, is a good coder and knows lots about technical aspects of the game but, he is Argentinean, so no!

It can get MUCH worst than Brahma and Pablo, trust me.
But for real now: you shouldn't meddle in jokes you can't understand, involving people you don't know, makes you look (even more) stupid...

Ironzorg
Undead/zero
Larry
Iron because of his obvious calmness and philosophical outlook.
Undead/zero because they are actually willing and able to contribute to a field that has a large impact on gameplay.
larry for actually making community events that make sense.
Id also like to add that until balance is properly looked at, there will not be a game worth playing (pubs or competitive)

Why is this user derrailing the thread all the time?
Please keep your thoughts for yourself, I don't even think I've ever seen you in game. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but do it via PM.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for the comments, it's given me insight on what the players on the forum want. It would be lovely to know what the real AC playerbase thinks, but I'm afraid they don't come here too often, if at all...
Couldn't a pop up message be sent via the MS connection and make them answer a quick survey?

That's it I am done. Make me a fking dev. End of story. I will write the MFKing AC Story. I will drop it like it's hot. Most importantly you all know that there is no one else more AC than me. Fk the old shimmies. Fk the new shimmies. Give me the GD mantle and let me carry that fking thing.
