I'm trying to find a good mix between good picture quality and reasonably high fps. This means that i'd ideally like to set non-standard resolutions at fullscreen. When i attempt this, AC will default to the closest standard resolution. Is there any way to prevent this from happening so that i can experiment with custom resolution settings at fullscreen?

That's the expected behavior. Fullscreen is fullscreen, and AC can only use the resolutions your graphics card supports.

While in game go to the options and input different res?
In windows make a batch file to start in the res you like the best?

I found a solution to this. My NVIDIA graphics cards has an option to set custom resolutions that i suspect, when done, will allow AC to recognize them. The only problem is NVIDIA throws up a pretty lengthy warning about doing this and how it may effect my monitor.
So i've deferred this until i can read more about it.. I've also lost interest to some extent. :/
