You have 2-3 different views of players so maybe you are "in the wrong one".

Im trying to make a video of my gameplay but when I recorded with Fraps my fps drops from 200 to about 20

I'm now trying to record it through the demo mode but I can't get the view as if I was playing the game then

Anyone who has used COD4 demos will know what I'm talking about

I hope this has helped

In demos, the gun isn't displayed. Just wasn't implemented code-wise I suppose. I've had bad experiences with FRAPS, but you could try recording in windowed mode with vsync on.
