Sorry to hear about the crashes, my OS X (10.10.3) clients (RR's pre-compiled + my own github compiles) crash occasionally too, perhaps it is the same problem.
Also, Ronald_Reagan has added "/extraambient" to his client build, so you can use this command instead of gamma for the time being - when using his client.
