Current known bugs:<br />

</li>
<li>Major issues with coopedit, server/client not allowing proper /sendmap /getmap, modifications to maps not saving properly in coopedit. Unknown cause.<br />

The story:<br />
The majority of contributions of this release were provided by Stef in the years 2014 to 2017. Also, Grenadier maintained the code base over the years. In Spring 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic a group consisting of former contributors decided to go for a temporary comeback and to resume work with three primary goals:<br />

AssaultCube v1.3 Lockdown-Edition BETA-3 has been released. <br />
<br />
We would be very happy if you test this release again extensively. From now on we will only fix critical bugs and minor adjustments and include them in the 1.3 final release to ensure the stability of the software. Further changes and improvements will be released as 1.3.x minor releases or patches in due time.<br />
<br />
The majority of work on BETA-3 has been implemented by grenadier and BrutalSystem. Big thanks.<br />

			<description><![CDATA[I've opened a new branch after some ideas had bubbled up for variations on the deathmatch gamemode theme. The <span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b">*DM</span> branch (actual name "stardm").<br />

In this branch are currently four basic new modes, three of which exist in FFA/teamplay variants. These are RageDM, PackDM and eXtremeDM. The teamplay-only mode is called BattleDM. The names and specifics of how they work may undergo any number of changes, this is just experimental.<br />
<br />
The ideas at the core of the modes are as follows:<br />
<ul class="mycode_list"><li>RageDM (rage): you carry all weapons, ammo boxes pickups replenish your current weapon<br />
</li>
<li>PackDM (pack): you carry all weapons, all ammo pickups replenish all weapons (clip/box=small/large)<br />
</li>
<li>eXtremeDM (xdm): you start with a pistol and a primary, dead players drop their primary<br />
</li>
<li>BattleDM (battle): your primary selection is limited per team; one A-ARD/10:SMG, one AD-81:Sniper Rifle, two V-19:Shotguns, two MTP-57:Assault Rifles<br />
</li>
</ul>

The BattleDM is still purely conceptual at this point - no code was written for it yet.<br />
<br />
In the time it took me to have lunch and post this I've already gotten some feedback. <br />
For instance the pistol clips in PackDM were initially implemented as half-size ammo boxes which has already been deemed confusing .. understandably so; we could keep them as simple clip pickups as always or lose the pistol in that mode entirely .. either ignoring all clip pickups or converting them to some different pickup.<br />
<br />
There were some voices that said the whole multi-weapon arsenal modes would devolve into SMG battles - which the BattleDM mode is conceptualy targeted against. Both Lynx234 and driAn were of the opinion that the limit in BattleDM should be <span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b">one weapon of each type</span><span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b"> per team</span>. So only one SMG and so forth.<br />
<br />
The question raised for XDM (eXtremeDM) was wether ammo was dropped besides the primary and the way that would unbalance the game; at this point you only get the starter ammo alongside the new weapon added to your arsenal. Currently the weapons stay until somebody picks them up - a timer has been suggested after which they would dissapear unused. Another idea from driAn was to place random primary weapons at the playerstarts to begin with, so you would really start with just a knife and a pistol and your primary would be a lottery. Or one could start with the regular primary you've selected and get a secondary primary (if that isn't a logical fallacy) by the weapon-at-spawn lottery.<br />
<br />
Other questions of balance and teamsizes were raised by Lynx234 to which I haven't got any real answers <span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b">yet</span> - they can only be found by experimenting and finetuning, reinventing and scrapping, whatever it takes.<br />

I have a personal opinion on whether Haxjump should be restored/re-implemented but I don't think it is sustainable for the project if I make such a decision on my own.<br />

The AC committee consisting of Grenadier, Mr. Floppy, Halo and XRD has now decided that the Haxjump will not be restored/re-implemented. <br />

Rationale:<br />
"Hax jumps are bugged - let you 'fly' over maps; allow to get 'infinite' speed, especially using binds/scripts; unfair - they give an advantage over people which can't use them (mainly inter players exploit it). Their non-trivial behavior, flying, etc. doesn't fit to arcade gameplay, which is a core of AC since the beginning. The compromise was fixing them by changing them to working edge jumps, which everybody can perform in a simple and predictable way. Edge jumps will work the same and fair for all. Inter player will lose advantage over pubs player, gema players will have dysfunctional gema maps. So part of inter players and gema community will be unhappy, if they won't be able to use hax jumps anymore, but removing such 'hax jumps' is just the best solution."<br />

A couple of days ago I came across this forum for the first time after many years. I am very happy to see that there are still people playing the game. This is great. I want to say thank you to everyone who kept this game alive over the years. <br />

Yes, it is correct that the first generation of developers handed over the project in an orderly fashion to the next generation. <br />
<br />
I am ready for a temporary comeback to support the project in this current situation.<br />
<br />
Three goals:<br />
- AssaultCube 1.3 - Lockdown Edition<br />
- AssaultCube Mobile [Android]<br />
- Getting new traction in the project<br />
<br />
Currently I am in touch with grenadier and we are working on a masterplan. We will propose a masterplan to you by end of next week.<br />

The installer delivers also more safe uninstaller, it adds "bulletairsound 0" to config/autoexec.cfg in profile as workaround for sound bug on Windows (sounds stop to play), in config/pcksources.cfg it has moved "us.ac-akimbo.net" on the top of the server list (that is nowadays the only working official server with custom packages, thanks to X-Ray_Dog, which pays for maintaining the whole infrastructure for AssaultCube, if you want, you can send him donation on <a href="https://sourceforge.net/p/actiongame/donate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener" class="mycode_url">https://sourceforge.net/p/actiongame/donate/</a> ).<br />

Please test the experimental package for Mac, which bases on SDL2 instead of outdated SDL1.2 (tree: <a href="https://github.com/assaultcube/AC/tree/831f8db" target="_blank" rel="noopener" class="mycode_url">https://github.com/assaultcube/AC/tree/831f8db</a> - "experimental" branch: <a href="https://github.com/assaultcube/AC/tree/experimental" target="_blank" rel="noopener" class="mycode_url">https://github.com/assaultcube/AC/tree/experimental</a>), and post following informations:<br />
<br />
1. whether game runs and on what Mac version,<br />
2. whether fullscreen works ("fullscreentoggle" command and entry in menu Settings-&gt;Video settings),<br />
3. whether gamma changing works - for example "Set temporary gamma for this map" in menu Settings-&gt;Video settings,<br />
4. whether system shortcuts like Alt+Tab work (of course Mac specific :)),<br />
5. whether some crashes appear and when.<br />
