ACWC Awards

The 2013 ACWC is finally over, and it was a great way to end 1104, with fierce battles between countries from all four corners of the globe. Now, the ACWC admins and referees are hereby delighted to present the fantastic ACWC awards that were graciously designed by ACWC veteran BigBen.

1st Place - USA|
for a well-deserved consistently performing first time ACWC winner.

2nd Place - Fra|
for an excellent contender that put up a very hard fight in the final and have proven themselves to be one of the best teams in ACWC history.

3rd Place - LA|
for a legendary team throughout ACWC history that performed to a commendably high standard in this tournament.

The following awards were judged by admins and referees.

Best Flagger - USA|Waffles
for being the consistently strongest flagger and most incredible attacker throughout the tournament.

Best Teamplayer - Fra|Harrek
for his consistent play, epic flags and awesome attacks throughout the tournament.

Best Defender - LA|Sacerock
for his brilliant defending vs UK: on gothic, leaving the scoreline at 0-0.

Best Clutch - NRD.aNytHe0ne
for his outstanding flag return on Waffles, bringing the Nordic team to a tie with USA on the first round - and for almost scoring again after that (if there were three more seconds, the Nordic team would have won).

Most Improved - USA|haste
for his consistently advancing skill level and in-game performance through from the start of the tournament to the end.

Fairplay award - Germany
for playing with a weaker lineup of theirs vs Brazil, simply so that they could finish their match before the required deadline.

Harrek and I would like to personally take time to thank each and every one of you that helped make this year's ACWC the success it was. Through some technical difficulties, a version change, some teams' organizational problems and even a DDoS of the official AC forum and masterserver, we kept going. And that would have not been possible without the help of the following people:

Luc@s - whose help with the anticheat client, match viewer and gaia.woop.us servers has been boundless. ACWC would have not been a success at all if it were not for his tireless efforts to make it so.

Newbie - for helping with the initial arrangement and organization of ACWC - even if he went inactive shortly after the tournament started.

BigBen - for making this year's awards and being a referee.

Oracle - for being a referee.

SercartY - for being a referee.

Million - for being a referee.

This year's ACWC is most certainly not over yet (LA vs Brazil is still yet to happen), but the refs and admins of this tournament believe we've seen so many awesome matches and great players that we were wondering what things would look like if some of those players grouped up together to create a team of three players and two subs (the three highest voted players will be in the main team, whilst 4th and 5th highest will be subs) - and this "team" will be given their own award/special mention when this year's ACWC awards are released.

This year's ACWC staff nominated twelve players from various different teams that we felt played especially well throughout the course of the games - and we would like YOU guys to vote for who you think deserves a place in the ultimate ACWC team.

We've set the poll to be private, but we'll monitor who votes for whom. If you vote for yourself, or if there's excessive "just voting for your own teammates or friends" happening, your votes will be discounted from the actual end result. The thread will be locked and stickied, and you may vote via the poll, which will last for a week.

If you need help deciding, feel free to check out the bracket or player stats page.

Just a disclaimer, this was something Harrek and myself thought of to try and prolong interest in ACWC until the last match takes place - it's nothing serious, just a bit of fun.

This is it, the moment most of you have been waiting for! The ACWC 2013 Finals! (and the 3rd place match) :D

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

1st round will be played on ctf ac_shine AND then the second round will be played on ctf ac_elevation. Tiebreak map will be ctf ac_urban.
Before each game, we'll check if everyone is using the acwc client released by Lucas here.
Games should be played on official acwc servers (you can find them here)
Each team should agree on a day and a time to play against each other, and inform us about what you've decided on this thread, or simply pm an admin or a referee.
To win the game, you have to win BOTH maps. To determine the winner of one map, we'll be working with cumulative scores.

Example :

After two great weeks of intense and interesting matches, semifinals can now begin.

Volunteers for referee?

Currently the list of referees is as follows:
- BigBen
- Luc@s
- Oracle
- SercartY
- Million
- yopa
- Robaum
- EndGame

They've done a great job so far, especially SecartY and Luc@s.
To be honest I'm not sure if BigBen is still a referee (haven't really seen him ref a match yet), Luc@s I know is not always free to referee due to other commitments, and my availability to play AC will be severely constrained starting next week, so I'm posting this to see if we can get any more volunteers for referees.
It's not very hard at all, you just have to be present in the server with the ACWC client and take all the necessary screenshots and demos to post in the match thread. You also have to make sure all competitors are using the ACWC client.
Note that now players who were on teams that were knocked out in the qualifiers can now be referees (for example, Million was recently added as referee, even though he was on France team B).
Ideally we'd like to get some people from different regions to maximize coverage.
Some ideal regions would be the following (with some possible suggestions in parentheses)
Oceania (DrauL?)
USA/Canada (probably just 1 more, since we have SecartY in Canada)
Latin/South America (maybe somebody from team SA? EndGame?)
Europe (again, probably just 1 more, since we have Luc@s and Million in France)

After a week's hiatus of the sexiest annual tournament in AssaultCube, we are happy to announce that this week's games will run exactly as planned.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION :

1st round will be played on ctf ac_gothic, tiebreaker is ctf ac_urban.
Before each game, we'll check if everyone is using the acwc client released by lucas here.
Games should be played on official acwc servers (you can find them here)
Each team should agree on a day and a time to play against each other, and inform us about what you decided on this thread, or simply pm an admin or a referee.
From now on, matches can and will only be played as 3vs3, due to recent problems. If your team isn't able to gather 3 players on the day you fixed, you can either try to fix another day/time as quickly as possible, or forfeit.
