A couple questions about the forum
#1
Hello AC'ers!

I'm going to make this short and sweet. I have two questions.

1. Why are signatures not available in this forum? Does it have to do with some sort of infrastructure for the website? Or does it have to do with the way the devs want site look?

2. Would there be a way to display the number of users currently browsing the forum, the various boards, threads, how many registered members, how many active members, how many members online, birthdays, etc.? I know a lot of forums do this, and it can be seen on the bottom of the main forum page.

Cheers!

This is from the 'change signature' tab in the User CP:

To prevent bloat, signatures are disabled in the forum, however, they will appear on your profile.

Quote:Signatures have specifically been disabled in forum posts via a plugin. The reason for this was to reduce bandwidth and "crud" in the forum.

List of online users and what they are doing: http://forum.cubers.net/online.php
List of all members in default order of last online: http://forum.cubers.net/memberlist.php
List of forum mods/admins: http://forum.cubers.net/showteam.php

If you can't find what you want with the above links then idk.

Also, Minty, you can see some birthdays on the User profile, if that helps!

* RandumKiwi is tempted to delete online.php

EDIT: /me goes and fixes the slap and me functions to not show in ugly red.

* RandumKiwi is still tempted.... types rm ../online.php and waits.

Which is why you can hide your online status (mods and above will still see it, though).

RK, I think there may be an option in the user group to prevent people from seeing the online.php page. You could just make the registered group not able to see it.

* Ronald_Reagan wants online.php

What's the reason for removing it? If you're gonna do it, remove it for all users. I don't really like the idea of mods and admins snooping other users.

Go to memberlist, then in the bottom right select Sort by: Post Count.

I see your point. However, on the flip side, they'd be expected not to abuse it, for the sole reason that they've been trusted enough to have been mods ;).

But why remove it at all for people in the Registered group? I don't see what damage it could do.

How about we don't change anything. It hasn't caused any controversy before so lets keep it that way.

As well, you can go to anyones profile and see what they are doing right then and there anyways and all online.php does is make a list. However under members list you can see who is pretty much online right now anyways. Removing it will just make it more interesting to see what people are doing but not even close to impossible.

No touchy anything, even /me should be changed back imo.
